Some of you might remember this picture, though I doubt any of you will know what it symbolises.
Journal Entry: Wed Apr 16, 2008, 10:46 AM Something very sad happened today (or last night). I have a friend at school who has a little sister, who is 8 years old. The sister was at a sleepover, and wasn't feeling well, so she went home. At 12 o'clock that night she wasn't at all right, so her family (including her sister, my friend) took her to hostpital. And in 4 hours she was dead from Meningitis. ... Not sure what you can say in these circumstances. The girl was only 8 years old, and it took only 24 hours for the illness to take hold and kill her. You hear about these things on the news, in magazines, or see them in films.... but you never dream it could happen to someone you know. I feel a bit shocked by this. And I can't help wondering, 'What if that had happened to one of my brothers?' Life is cruel. I hope I've honoured you. I long to be like you, sis, lie cold in the ground like you, died... EDIT: This piece is getting exhibited at the Hereford Art college! |
